Behold! My greatest creation thus far! (And longest to make, too..)

Good lord! Remind me to never tackle something like this again for a while. Hand-drawn repeating sprites, even!


It's.... a little crooked, but it took me over a week to draw all this. I would've shaded more, but this thing's slated for the digital coloring machine a little later on, and pencil shading throws me waaay off when I do that.


So, anyways, what this is is the Final Boss of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. When you finally arrive at the Death Egg, you have no Rings and can't get any Rings at all in the "Zone".

And you have to face a miniboss, Silver Sonic, before you can reach Dr. Robotnik's giant egg robot, the one you see in the image above.

What's funny is that there's actually a screenshot of this in the Sonic 2 manual! So they're basically spoiling the ending for you, but you may not've known that just be looking.

But that iconic pose really struck me; Sonic, so small, looking upward and at gigantic robot that takes 18 hits to defeat, whilst one miscue and Sonic himself is dead, just like that...

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the first game I ever played, too. Ever. So it's kinda special to me. I never beat this boss until sometime in 2003 or 2004.

That stuff in the background is supposed to be stars and the Earth. This battle takes place in the Death Egg, a pun on Death Star.

I plan to cheat a little and cut off the top and bottom and level it out a little.
Something I should've thought of to begin with.
